‘Contract offered’ – West Ham ‘incredible’ £38m man linked with lucrative exit

The Hammers forward enjoyed a sparkling first season at the club after arriving from Ajax last summer. West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus has been offered a lucrative contract by Saudi Arabian clubs this summer in a bid to lure him away from the London Stadium after just one season.

That’s according to TEAMtalk, with the outlet reporting that Al Nassr and Al-Ittihad have expressed an interest in the Ghanaian winger. Those wealthy outfits are believed to have offered Kudus a staggering £212,000 a week to make an early move away from the Premier League.

The winger only joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023 on a £38 million move and enjoyed an exciting first season in the top flight. Kudus made 48 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers in his debut campaign, scoring 18 goals and picking up seven assists.

The report claims that Kudus was contacted by officials from the Saudi clubs a few weeks ago to sound out the deal but had made it clear that he intended to stay at West Ham and work under Julen Lopetegui this season.

That will come as a relief to West Ham supporters, who have quickly grown fond of Kudus. Lopetegui is already in the market to strengthen his side’s attacking options and any potential loss of Kudus would be a huge blow.

The Hammers have already splurged £25 million on young Palmeiras Luis Guilherme this summer. However, the winger is just 18 years old and likely to need time to adjust before becoming a regular in the starting XI.

Speaking about Kudus towards the end of the Premier League season, former West Ham manager David Moyes said: “Mohammed Kudus is not just important for this tie tomorrow, but he’s been important for us all season. He will be important for us going forward in the future as well. He’s a young boy who has only just come into the Premier League and he’s settled in incredibly well.

“It’s not easy to start well in the Premier League, and a lot of the players who come from overseas find it quite difficult, but I think Mo, though, because of the experience he’s had – in Denmark, the Netherlands and now the Premier League – it has given him a better coverage of different leagues.”
