Club ditches plan to sign Everton ace, set to sign PL man instead for multi-million loan – report

Lyon make ultimate decision on Everton ace Arnaut Danjuma as multi-million loan fee agreed

Lyon have made an ultimate decision in their pursuit of Everton ace Arnaut Danjuma, ending their interest in the Dutchman after agreeing a loan deal to sign Said Benrahma, according to L’Equipe.

The French outlet reported on its website Tuesday (30 January) that Lyon will pay the Hammers around £4.3million [€5million] to secure the Algerian on loan for the remainder of the season, with the deal including a non-mandatory buy-option of £8.5million [€10million].

Now that the French giants have agreed on a deal to sign Benrahma, they have decided that they will no longer pursue a deal for Toffees loanee Danjuma, despite consistent links throughout the entire of the January transfer window.

    Good news

Everton don’t have many forward options at Goodison Park this season and it would have been a huge blow to Sean Dyche and the Toffees had they lost the Dutchman for the remainder of the season, even though he hasn’t hit the heights expected of him.

The 26-year-old has only made six starts for Dyche’s side in the Premier League and has only managed to find the back of the net once, but the Toffees manager has repeatedly insisted that the Dutchman will be given his chance to earn a consistent place in the starting XI.

With his short-term future now appearing to be decided, Danjuma may well be able to focus on the remainder of the season at Goodison Park, rather than having one eye on where he could be heading in the January transfer window.

Hopefully, the Villarreal loanee can finally find his feet on Merseyside and play a huge role in Everton’s bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League season, especially as they look for a consistent source of goals at the top end of the pitch.
