Chelsea fans’ dreams shattered ahead of West Ham clash as Blues release official statement

Chelsea fans’ dreams shattered ahead of West Ham clash as Blues release official statement. West Ham United play host to Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday at the London Stadium.

The West Ham vs Chelsea Premier League clash this weekend is a hugely important one for both sides. Chelsea are believed to be missing up to six key players for the West Ham clash, but let’s be honest, they have one of the biggest squads in world football.

That’s not to say that some players are not more important than others though. Julen Lopetegui and Enzo Maresca are both in desperate need of a result and a big performance from their players at the London Stadium.

West Ham have already been handed a very big boost ahead of the game, with the news that the injury suffered by Emerson Palmieri last weekend isn’t serious. On the flip-side though, Chelsea have been handed some very bad news today…

Chelsea fans’ dreams shattered ahead of West Ham clash

The Blues already have numerous concerns ahead of the Hammers clash.

Firstly they have numerous players set to miss the game at the London Stadium, as mentioned above. And secondly, their nemesis Stuart Attwell has been named as the lead VAR official for the match.

Regarding their injured players, Chelsea fans’ hopes were lifted when Malo Gusto and Romeo Lavia were both pictured in training this week.

That led their fans to believe that both could be fit in time to face the Hammers at the London Stadium on Saturday.

However, they may well have jumped to conclusions too soon, and their dreams have now been shattered.

That’s because Chelsea have released a statement via their official X account about Gusto and Lavia.

    It reads:

“Romeo Lavia and Malo Gusto continued their rehabilitation on Tuesday with another modified session as they continue their recovery from injury.“

😁 @RomeoLavia and @Gusto_Malo continued their rehabilitation on Tuesday with another modified session as they continue their recovery from injury.

Unfortunately for them, there’s no way that either player will be ready to face West Ham if they are only taking part in ‘modified’ training sessions, only three days before the game.

So the Hammers have made a slow start to the 2024/25 season.

However, a return of four points from our first four games isn’t the end of the world, especially when we’ve faced two of last season’s top four and played two fiercely contested London derbies away from home.

However, a defeat to Chelsea this weekend would change the narrative completely, just as a victory would. The Blues will represent an incredibly tough challenge for us, but I’m confident that we can win the game if our best players show up.

Chelsea won’t have all of their players available for the clash with West Ham. So it could well be advantage Hammers this weekend.
