Danny Ings offered West Ham United escape route by Leeds United, Burnley. West Ham United striker Danny Ings is a target for Championship sides Leeds United and Burnley, according to Darren Witcoop. The journalist shared on talkSPORT 2 [26 August, 6:49pm] that there is a “lot of interest” in Ings, who the Irons are eager to get rid of [TBR Football, 26 August] before the transfer window closes.

There is an argument to be made that Ings could still play a part at West Ham as a back-up player.
However, given he has played just five minutes across United’s opening two Premier League games, it is clear that he is not going to play all that often. Niclas Fullkrug will become a regular starter once integrated in, while Michail Antonio will likely be Julen Lopetegui’s go-to man in reserve.
Ings must accept that, if he does indeed want to be playing regularly, he has just four days left to find himself a new club. West Ham are moving on and are still being linked with various strikers, not least Roma’s Tammy Abraham – a rumour that will just not go away.

Ings’ career in East London has never truly taken off and it does not look likely to on the basis of what we have seen so far.
A move to Leeds or Burnley, two sides chasing for automatic promotion back to the top flight, may prove to be one step back to take two steps forward. This is a transfer that would make sense for everyone.
