West Ham United: Chelsea ready to bid £38.5m to sign Mohammed Kudus, Arsenal also want him
Chelsea are ready to bid £38.5m to sign West Ham star Mohammed Kudus in the summer, with Arsenal also interested in a deal according to Fichajes.net.
Writing on their website (15 February), the Spanish news outlet report that the two London giants are keen to sign the Hammers star after his excellent first season at the London Stadium.
The Ghana star joined the Hammers in a deal worth £38m plus add-ons from Ajax, beating Chelsea to his signature, but the Blues are still interested and are ready to make a bid for him in the summer which could move them ahead of Arsenal in the race for his signature as they need to sell before they can buy.
“Chelsea, under the direction of Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino, have shown a strong desire to secure the signing of the Ghanaian midfielder and are willing to offer a juicy sum of €45million (£38.5m) to acquire him, with this offer being the one that could give them a significant advantage in the dispute for the player since Arsenal, also interested in Kudus, needs to generate income through sales before making a concrete offer,” they wrote.
West Ham won’t be selling Kudus any time soon
West Ham absolutely secured a coup when they got a deal for Kudus over the line, beating a lot of European giants to bring him to the club.
His potential is there for all to see and he has been clear that he wants to play Champions League football and win trophies regularly in his career, which means the chances of him staying at the London Stadium for the rest of his career are slim.
So when clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal come calling, similarly to Declan Rice’s situation, it’s going to be very difficult to stop him leaving.
West Ham
However in the summer window he will still have plenty of time remaining on his contract and there is absolutely no chance of the club allowing him to leave for the same amount of money they spent on him 12 months ago.
Lucas Paqueta is more likely to leave due to a release clause that becomes active and that will strengthen West Ham’s negotiation position too, so it’s fair to say this is a rumour that can be ignored in the summer.
