Big-money ace upset by transfer stance after West Ham make approach to sign him – report

Ferdi Kadıoğlu has been left upset after Fenerbahce president Ali Koç insisted he won’t be allowed to leave for less than €30million [£25.56m] amid interest from West Ham, according to Fotospor.

The Turkish outlet reported via their website on 31 May that the Irons are one of a number of teams to have made an official approach for the full-back, although European giants such as Arsenal, Bayern Munich and AC Milan have not yet made offers.

Napoli have reportedly made the strongest offer so far and agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old, but the total value of their bid didn’t reach €20m [£17m] and Koç is holding out for a huge offer to let him leave.

That has taken the Turkish international by surprise after communication between the pair ahead of last season had seemingly reached an understanding it would be his last at the Istanbul club.

Jose Mourinho to take charge as West Ham target defender

With Jose Mourinho about to take over as new Fenerbahce boss [Fabrizio Romano, 31 May] it remains to be seen what the former Chelsea and Tottenham boss’ arrival means for the current squad.

The Portuguese may have eyes on bringing in his own players, which might soften the president’s resolve not to let Kadıoğlu leave for anything but a top end fee.

West Ham appear to be facing substantial competition for the left-back’s signature but for now the deal is there to be done if a club wants to stump up the money.

Aaron Cresswell recently agreed a one-year contract extension to remain at the London Stadium into the Julen Lopetegui era [The Athletic, 21 May] after regular links to an exit, and while regular starter Emerson remains in place the club have been showing interest in targets at the position for a number of consecutive windows.

The club appear to be on the brink of sealing a big-money deal for Palmeiras teenager Luis Guilherme according to Fabrizio Romano (31 May), but difficulties around the expected Patricio Bruno deal mean nothing is certain until it is confirmed.

That shows there is money to spend this summer but with Tim Steidten likely after reinforcements in multiple areas and a hefty windfall for selling Lucas Paqueta now gone in light of his FA charge it may be that the Hammers aren’t willing to meet Kadıoğlu’s asking price.
