BBC reporter spots surprise guest in the stands at Man City as Lopetegui rumours spread like wildfire

BBC reporter spots surprise guest in the stands at Manchester City as Julen Lopetegui sack rumours spread like wildfire. West Ham united were soundly beaten by Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday afternoon, and Julen Lopetegui looked crestfallen on the sidelines throughout.

Julen Lopetegui looks like a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders right now, and he could be sacked from his role at West Ham imminently. Before the clash with Manchester City on Saturday, it was claimed that a heavy defeat could see Lopetegui lose his job.

And now it remains to be seen whether or not the board will pull the plug on the Spaniard’s time at the London Stadium. Lopetegui has failed miserably in his role at West Ham, and it would surprise nobody if he wasn’t in the dug-out for the FA Cup clash with Aston Villa next week.

But there is one man out there who I really don’t want to come in and replace him.

Surprise guest at Man City as Julen Lopetegui sack rumours spread

If the Spaniard is moved on from the London Stadium, I want a younger, more innovative coach to come in and replace him.

The likes of Graham Potter and Sebastien Hoeness both appeal to me. However, there is another name out there that the Hammers fans will be very familiar with.

And I think he would be a total disaster for us… David Moyes was spotted in the stands (BBC’s Simon Jones), as the Hammers were dealt a heavy defeat by Man City.

Incredibly, the 62-year-old has been linked with a return to West Ham for a THIRD spell (Metro).

So could his presence at The Etihad on Saturday mean that he is ready to come back to the London Stadium?

I certainly hope not. Now, I have to clarify that statement. Moyes did amazing things for the Hammers, but he reached his clearly ceiling at the club.

Sacking Julen Lopetegui and going back for more with Moyes would be a real backwards step from West Ham in my opinion. Moving on the Spaniard will 100 per cent be the correct decision, but getting the replacement spot on will be crucial.

David Moyes definitely isn’t the man for the job as far as I’m concerned, but it still wouldn’t shock me one little bit if the Hammers board went back to the Scot with their tails between their legs.
