David Moyes insists if West Ham hitman Jarrod Bowen is clean through in the dying seconds at the Etihad tomorrow afternoon – with the chance to snatch a point – he will bury it. No problem.

Ahead of his 231st and final game as Hammers chief, Moyes was asked how England ace Bowen, with 20 goals this term, might fare in the same pressure-cooker scenario. And the Scot’s response was exactly what all Gunners supporters praying for a miracle in the scrap to be crowned champions wanted to hear.
Moyes declared: “I’d put my money on Jarrod, yep. If he can get those opportunities, then Jarrod’s got it. So I hope we can get those opportunities and chances for him to score.
“Jarrod started to show different things when I put him centre forward in November – and he’s just become more ruthless in his finishing.

“He’s gained more speed and power. He’s very good way in his general play. But his finishing…he’s thriving on the goals! He’s got a wee bit of the eye of the tiger in him at the moment. I’ve got to hope he keeps that going for us.”

Whether Moyes is sipping champers or plonk with Pep Guardiola this evening remains to be seen. But he is not interested in assisting Arsenal’s cause, only that of West Ham. He added: “We have to do it for ourselves.”
