Arsenal failed to land summer target because of his price- Swedish Goal-machine

Football Express reports Mikel Arteta was keen to bring in a proper #9 into his lineup this summer. The Gunners mostly relied on Saka and Havertz for goals last season. It did seem to work for them but was not enough in the end. So, the London Reds were keen on signing a proper striker. As a result, Arsenal had their eyes set on Viktor Gyokeres. The 26-year-old Swede was great last season. As per transfer market.co.in, he managed to secure 58 G/A in 50 appearances for Sporting in 23/24 campaign. But, the Gunners were unable to secure a transfer move for him. As a result, he ended up staying in Portugal.

Why could Viktor Gyokeres not join Arsenal?

As per football.london the striker talked about his move collapsing to a Swedish publication. The 26-year-old man revealed that Sporting’s demands were actually quite high. The Portuguese club wanted his €100 million release clause to be paid. Many Premier League clubs were already cutting back to avoid PSR issues. And, Sporting were not letting the striker go for a lower price. As a result, Arsenal chose not to move in for Viktor Gyokeres. At the same time, we credit the striker for his professionalism and not trying to force a move out. Nonetheless, he has already begun the new season same way as he finished the last, with impressive numbers.

Should the Gunners sign him in the future?

Well, the Swedish striker is still 26. He has a lot of good years ahead of him. At the same time, the Gunners need a proper and a quality striker. He totally fits the profile. Maybe, Sporting will adjust their demands next year if the striker doesn’t sign a new deal with them. So, there is still a chance that Viktor Gyokeres could join Arsenal next summer.

Soccer4u sees that the striker can provide quality backup to Kai Havartz in Arsenal bid for a major silverware lets see how it goes in J
