Ange Postecoglou makes shocking admission after first Tottenham goal in last match

Lastest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive as former Reds striker Brennan Johnson gets off the mark for new club Tottenham

Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson celebrates after scoring his first goal for the club against Wolves

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou believes Brennan Johnson “definitely” has goals in him, but admits he’s had a “disrupted” start to his career at Spurs.

Johnson scored his first goal for Tottenham in their 2-1 defeat to Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday in only his third league start for his new club, following his summer transfer from Nottingham Forest. He fired Spurs 1-0 ahead at Molineux before Postecoglou’s side succumbed to injury time goals from Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina.

The 22-year-old was sidelined for almost a month after suffering a thigh injury against Arsenal at the end of September. He returned towards the end of October and has started Spurs’ last two matches against Chelsea and Wolves.

Asked if his first goal for the club could boost Johnson’s confidence, Postecoglou said: “I hope so. It’s not the only measure. He’s one of the ones I think could have been a bit more positive for us in the first half (against Wolves) but again Brennan’s not really had a clear run at it.

“He’s had a real disrupted beginning to his career for us and I think the more we can get him into these situations there’s definitely goals in him. There’s more of a goal threat in him but again you could see at the end he ran out of legs because he hasn’t played a lot of football since the start of the year.”
