Alasdair Gold believes that Jamie Donley will be loaned out by Tottenham in the summer to make room for Lucas Bergvall in the squad.
Donley has been training regularly with Ange Postecoglou’s squad over the last few months and has already made four senior appearances this season, which is a clear indication of the fact that the Australian and his staff value the youngster quite highly.
The teenager has primarily played as a number ten for the first team this season, although he has demonstrated for the Under-21s that he is capable of playing as a striker or perhaps even deeper in the number eight role.
Donley’s chances of getting game time at Spurs might be limited next season as Bergvall will link up with the squad ahead of the new campaign.
According to reports over recent weeks, Tottenham are expected the hand the Swedish wonderkind a prominent first-team role next season (Football Insider).
Jamie Donley may be loaned out when Bergvall arrives
Gold thus believes that Donley will be sent to the EFL next season to get some competitive minutes under his belt.
The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “I’d imagine Jamie [Donley] out of those [Lucas Bergvall & Alfie Devine] will probably will have to go out on loan. It depends on the circumstances, you never know.
“There could be injuries, he could just be incredible in pre-season and they say, ‘I’m not letting that guy go.”
