According to a Sky Sports journalist, Tottenham has a player worth £200 million right now.

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol has been discussing Harry Kane’s future and he suggested the striker is worth £200 million to Tottenham Hotspur.

Solhekol was discussing a recent article in The Times about the Harry Kane transfer saga as the Spurs forward has been heavily linked with a switch to Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions had an offer worth around £86 million rejected last week but are expected to return with an improved bid before the weekend.

Indeed, various reports have claimed that Kane is keen to determine his future before the Premier League season gets underway and it’s thought that he will not leave Tottenham unless a deal is agreed before they face Brentford on Sunday.

Sky Sports reports that Thomas Tuchel’s men are set to offer around £94.6 million to sign Kane this week.

But Solhekol has suggested that if he was the owner of Tottenham, he’d be looking for around £200 million to sell Kane this summer.

Kane is worth £200m to Tottenham

Speaking on Sky Sports News yesterday, Solhekol discussed a recent article on Kane’s future and made the case for Tottenham to hold out for a much higher fee.

“Brilliant article in the Times this morning (Tuesday) by Martin Samuel, who I think is close to Daniel Levy or may have been in the past, and he makes the point that Kane is invaluable to Spurs,” the journalist said.

“He’s worth more than £95 million to Spurs. He’s worth more than £100 million, he’s probably worth more than £150 million to Spurs. When people think about Tottenham Hotspur, what’s the first thing you think of? You think of Harry Kane.

“He’s an icon. After Jimmy Greaves, after Glenn Hoddle, he’s their greatest player. Why would they sell him for £85 million paid in installments to Bayern Munich? Let’s get real, he didn’t grow up dreaming of playing for Bayern Munich. If it was Real Madrid and he was going to play with Kylian Mbappe, you’d think ‘ok let’s not stand in his way, it’s every players dream to go and play for Real Madrid’. That’s an article worth reading because he makes some very good points.”

He added: “But if he stays until next summer, Spurs have got between now and next summer to convince him to sign a new contract.

“My personal opinion is, Harry Kane is up there with the greats of the game, you’re talking Kylian Mbappe level. I’d be looking at £200 million. “If I owned the club Harry Kane was playing for, that is the kind of figure I’d be looking at.”

Of course, the 30-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Spurs and will be able to leave for nothing if he doesn’t pen a new deal over the coming months.

But Solhekol makes a great point that Kane is almost invaluable to Tottenham and from their point of view, it could be worth taking a risk on his future.

If Spurs enjoy an encouraging start to life under Postecoglou, the England captain may just be convinced his long-term future lies in North London.
