Tottenham ‘formally’ made contact for signing on Friday – Spurs in meetings, want to ‘secure’ player

On January 19th, Het Laatste Nieuws reported Tottenham Hotspur are keen to sign Club Brugge’s Antonio Nusa. Since then, there have been various reports in Belgium discussing the north London club’s interest in the winger.

Two days ago, Club Brugge manager Ronny Deila hinted he couldn’t stop the 18-year-old from agreeing a deal with Spurs. His quotes are reiterated by Norway’s TV2, who then share their own information on this case.

It’s claimed Tottenham ‘formally contacted’ the Jupiler Pro League side ‘on Friday’ and their aim is to ‘secure the jewel’, likely in the winter market.

Last summer, Chelsea offered €30m to acquire the Norway international’s services, which he turned down. Ange Postecoglou’s side are presenting him another opportunity to make a switch to the Premier League.

The attacker’s deal lasts until 2027 and TV2 claim at least NOK 350m [€30m] is needed to sign him.

Claims from Sweden reported Club Brugge have set their sights on replacing Nusa with BK Häcken youngster Momodou Sonko. This is relayed by Voetbal Belgie, who then provide a short update on Tottenham.

It’s said the Premier League side have had ‘two meetings’ with the Belgian club, who want at least €35m for the player.

Earlier claims had stated Tottenham want to agree a deal in this window and send Nusa back on loan to Club Brugge until the end of this season.

That could obviously change if the amount hits €35m and Sonko is signed as a replacement.
