View: Levy could earn Tottenham millions after new ‘Masterplan’ reveal today

In the Money: Daniel Levy could earn Tottenham millions as ‘Masterplan’ revealed Daniel Levy has always been one of the smartest owners in English football and Tottenham have continually benefitted from that throughout the years.

Spurs confirmed on Wednesday 13 December that they have received planning permission for a new 180-room hotel in the south of the stadium campus.

That permission is subject to referral to the Mayor of London as the club looks to continue working with Haringey Council on a wider “masterplan” in the area.

The hotel will consist of 30 stories and 49 of the 180 rooms will be for residential apartments with further updates on developments expected in due course.

In English football, there are a small handful of examples of clubs with in-stadium hotels.

HotelFollower has shared information revealing that Norwich, MK Dons, Bolton, Blackpool and Coventry are those clubs, with Spurs potentially a sixth – although not directly in the stadium, just on their campus.

Given that it is Spurs who have received the planning permission, it is safe to assume that they will be raking in the windfall from the hotel, with the council potentially involved too.

For a standard room at the Blackpool FC Hotel, a two-night stay without pitch view costs anywhere from £185 to £378, with a pitch view room costing up to £498 in January [Booking.com]

That is a League One club, with little success on the pitch so comparing what Tottenham could earn consistently from the 131 rooms in the hotel could be astronomical.

If these “Superior” rooms were available at Tottenham at an average price of between £378 and £498 [£438], selling 131 of those could bring in £57,378 in one weekend alone.

Prices would definitely be higher in Tottenham than in Blackpool, so that average figure would grow immensely, with London making sure it would increase.

Levy is likely rubbing his hands together, but it is hard to bring exact figures right now, but you can predict that they will bring in millions over the years with this in mind.

Bolton, another League One club, charges from £192 to £293 for a two-night stay over a January weekend [Booking.com], with the potential clear to see should this go ahead successfully.

The potential is clearly there to see if directly linked to the club, and Tottenham will be in line for a constant line of fresh windfall if they can pull off this new “masterplan.”

In other Tottenham news, Spurs should have cash the burn in January despite Ornstein’s update.
