Tottenham star ‘faked injury’ so he could ‘leave match and catch a flight’
Bobby Zamora has recalled how one of his former Tottenham Hotspur team-mates feigned an injury so that he could shoot off from a match early and make it to the airport
Bobby Zamora has spoken about Stephane Dalmat’s time at Tottenham more than once
There’s nothing worse than rushing around to catch a flight – just ask former Tottenham star Stephane Dalmat.
According to Dalmat’s ex-Spurs team-mate Bobby Zamora, the maverick Frenchman once faked an injury during a game so that he could get to the airport on time. Dalmat spent the 2003-04 season on loan at White Hart Lane, making 22 appearances for the club.
Despite currying favour with Tottenham fans, the 44-year-old’s attitude wasn’t always up to scratch, as described by Zamora on a recent podcast appearance. During the same podcast, Zamora also recalled the time Dalmat’s fake injury, which he first revealed on Jimmy Bullard’s Off the Hook podcast.
On that occasion, he said: “We played a game at Spurs. In the first five minutes of the second half he just walked off the pitch.
“The ball wasn’t out of play or anything and he just starts walking off the pitch. I think I was on the bench and I thought he has pulled his hamstring or something. He walks down the tunnel. Doesn’t say anything to anybody. We played the game and then came in and he had shot.
