Doctor: Tottenham star injury may be worse than expected, Grade 3 rupture now possible

Tottenham in-form star defender Micky van de ven injury may be worse than expected – Doctor

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven’s injury may be worse than first expected in terms of the intensity, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that it could either be a Grade 2 hamstring tear or a Grade 3 full rupture and regardless of what it is, he’s unlikely to be back in training before the end of the year.

It’s fair to assume that he will be back in the first week of January with Premier Injuries reporting a first-team football return on 14 January.

Discussing the state of play with van de Ven exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“This is likely a high Grade 2 tear and that’s what I initially thought but it can also be a Grade 3 rupture of the hamstring, looking at the timeline.

“In that case, I would expect him to return to training near the new year or later. It’s safe to expect him back not before the first week of January.

“This appears to be the effect of his high-intensity sprints throughout the season and it’s important that his return is handled systematically without rushing him back.“

The 22-year-old arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the summer without too much fanfare.

However, within a few games, supporters saw just why Ange Postecoglou brought the Netherlands defender to the club.

He has played 11 games this season in the Premier League and has been among the first names on the team sheet for the Australian.

He even managed to find the back of the net on one occasion – scoring the winner against Luton Town in October.
