Aston Villa star sends seven-word message after beating his boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur

Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa has taken to Instagram to celebrate after beating his boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Tottenham Hotspur have now suffered three defeats in a row after losing 2-1 at home to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou’s side is decimated through injuries and suspension right now, but they did take the lead through Giovani Lo Celso in the first half.

Spurs couldn’t hang on though as Pau Torres and Ollie Watkins scored to turn the game on its head to give Villa a 2-1 win in North London.

That’s now seven wins in the last nine for Villa, who are becoming serious challengers for a top four place this season.

A number of players are in great form right now and defender Ezri Konsa is one of them.

The former Charlton Athletic man earned an England call-up earlier this month having enjoyed a strong start to the campaign.

Konsa has now taken to Instagram to react after Sunday’s win, stating ‘big result today! Proud of the boys’.

The likes of Emiliano Martinez, Leon Bailey, Diego Carlos and Bertrand Traore all showed their support for Konsa after another strong display.

Konsa kept it simple with his message given that he may have had conflicting emotions about Sunday’s game.

The defender grew up supporting Tottenham and ‘loved’ watching Dimitar Berbatov in a Spurs shirt.

Konsa has also previously admitted that Tottenham is his dream move given his love for the club.

Konsa had to put that Tottenham love to one side on Sunday and he certainly did his job well, securing all three points for Villa.

Spurs may wish that Konsa was turning out for them, but that ship seems to have sailed now as he goes from strength to strength this season.
