West Ham United transfer news as Sevilla ready to get ahead of competitors to sign Pablo Fornals
West Ham United midfielder Pablo Fornals is sure to leave the club in 2024 and Sevilla are ready to get ahead of competitors to seal his signature, according to Estadio Deportivo.
The Spanish news outlet reported on 17 November that the Europa League champions see the Spanish midfielder as a profile their manager needs and will try and force transfer chief Victor Orta to get ahead of competition to sign him.
Sevilla were keen to add Fornals to their ranks during the summer transfer window but were unable to match the Irons’ financial demands.
Fornals has only managed just one start this season with David Moyes growing out of favour for him and according to Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla believe he is destined to depart at some point next year.
They wrote: “There will be more competition for a midfielder like Pablo Fornals, who was already mentioned last summer when entering the last year of his contract with West Ham.
January exit must be sealed
It seems inevitable that Fornals will depart the London Stadium this summer having barely played in the Premier League so far this season and it could well be best for all parties involved if the Irons allow him to join Sevilla during the January transfer window.
It’s been reported that Fornals has rejected the chance of a new deal at the London Stadium (Sean Whetstone, 14 September) meaning all roads are certainly now leading towards an inevitable London Stadium exit.
There has been little evidence in the Spanish midfielder’s brief cameos this season to suggest that he deserves to start ahead of the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma in the wide areas and he has been hooked by Moyes in all three of his Europa League starts.
If there is one area of the pitch in which West Ham can afford to lose a squad player it is out wide and there is more than enough talent already currently at the London Stadium for the Hammers to cope without the Spaniard for the second half of the campaign.
Also, with his contract coming to a close in June, the Irons will not want to lose him on a free given he is currently entering his prime years so it will be financially wise for West Ham United to cut their losses as soon as the transfer window opens.
