Steve Potts’ interesting response when asked which under-21 player is most likely to make it

Steve Potts is in charge of the West Ham under-21s, and it’s the most exciting group of young stars we’ve had for over two decades.

The West Ham United under-21s have been absolutely flying this season, backing up last term’s FA Cup Youth Cup success in the process.

Under the guidance of Steve Potts, the Hammers U-21s are sitting in second spot in the Premier League 2 table behind only Tottenham, and ahead of Arsenal.

David Moyes and the West Ham fans must be so excited about the crop of youngsters currently coming through the ranks.

Callum Marshall is one of the standout young players we have at the club, and his recent hat-trick against Liverpool was evidence of his unbelievable quality.

Teenager Dan Rigge is another star of the future – check out the wonder goal he scored earlier this season against Derby by clicking here.

Divin Mubama is probably the most well known starlet at the club, but we have the likes of Ollie Scarles, George Earthy and Gideon Kodua amongst our ranks as well. So which one is the stand-out star of the lot?

Steve Potts responds to West Ham under-21s question

The former Hammers centre-back is doing a fine job in charge of the under-21 so far this season.

And Potts opened up on which player amongst his ranks has the best chance to go on and make it with the senior side, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“This group of U21s are a very good all-round group. People ask me questions. Who’s the one? Who’s the next one that’s going to make it? But, honestly, it’s a hard answer to give and a player to pick because there are a number of them who have got real chances!”

That’s incredibly exciting to hear isn’t it. There are so many supremely talented youngsters that there isn’t actually a standout player.

I reckon Mubama, Marshall, Scarles, Earthy, Rigge and Kodua are the ones who will definitely go on to make it at the very highest level one day, hopefully with the Hammers.

The fans are understandably very excited indeed about the West Ham United under-21s right now. There are so many young players who have the ability and talent to make a real splash in the game.

And Steve Potts’ latest comments highlight just how exceptionally talented this young group of players are.
