Report: Spurs have ‘sent a formal offer’ to sign 24-year-old centre-back
Mexican transfer expert Fernando Esquivel has revealed that Tottenham have now submitted a formal offer to Club America to sign centre-back Sebastian Caceres.
Tottenham’s interest in Caceres first came to light two weeks ago when Football Insider revealed that Ange Postecoglou’s men were left impressed by the player’s solid display in Uruguay’s 2-0 win over Brazil during last month’s international break.
Record subsequently named Tottenham and Sevilla as the two clubs eyeing Caceres and suggested that Club America are increasingly resigned to the player leaving in January.
Spurs’ interest in the 24-year-old was also backed up by 90 min, who reported a few days ago that he is one of four central defenders on the North London club’s radar, alongside Tosin Adarabioyo, Lloyd Kelly and Trevoh Chalobah.
Tottenham submit offer for Sebastian Caceres
Esquivel has now taken to X, formerly Twitter, to state that Spurs have started negotiations over a potential deal for Caceres.
The journalist claims Tottenham have ‘sent a formal offer’ to Club America to sign him when the transfer window reopens in the winter.
He alleges that Caeres and his representatives have given the ‘green light’ for the move and that the Mexican club are expected to respond to the Premier League side’s offer over the ‘coming days’.L
Given the number of different independent outlets that are reporting this news, it appears like Spurs do hold a serious interest in Caceres. The pace at which this deal seems to be moving suggests that Postecoglou’s men are keen to steal a march on other European clubs and finalize the move swiftly.
