Tottenham Hotspur are expected to ramp up their move for Brennan Johnson once tonight’s game at Fulham is out of the way.
A potential move for Brennan Johnson to join Tottenham Hotspur could accelerate after tonight’s game with Fulham. That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Johnson’s move to Tottenham is ‘expected to take shape’ within the coming hours.
It’s stated that the move should accelerate after Tottenham take on Fulham in the Carabao Cup tonight.
Tottenham are willing to offer players as part of a deal for Johnson and some of those players could feature against Fulham.
That will give Forest another chance to look at those potential signings and then move forward with a potential part-exchange deal for Johnson. It’s unclear just who that refers to but you have to imagine that defender Davinson Sanchez is one of the prominent names.
The Telegraph suggested just days ago that Tottenham would be willing to offer Sanchez and winger Bryan Gil to Forest.
It’s hard to imagine that Gil will feature tonight but you just never know with Ange Postecoglou surely about to rotate his squad.
Brennan Johnson ticks the boxes for Tottenham Hotspur
We can understand some Tottenham fans feeling that they need a natural number nine to replace Harry Kane.
Postecoglou seemingly wants to spread the goals around though with Johnson his top target.
The Welshman will be expensive but ticks a number of boxes for Tottenham.
Firstly, he has blistering pace; Tottenham’s other attackers don’t really have that kind of speed.
Johnson is also a homegrown player, boosting Tottenham’s numbers further after the signing of James Maddison.
There have been links to Gent’s Gift Orban too but Johnson has a season of Premier League experience under his belt, scoring eight goals last season.
The 22-year-old offers great versatility across the front line and when you factor in all these points, you can understand why Postecoglou wants Johnson snapped up before the transfer deadline.
