Martin Keown says Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Evan Ferguson is an ‘outstanding talent’ for Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Arsenal legend added that the 18-year-old is behind Manchester City’s goal machine Erling Haaland in having ‘everything’ to his game, as he told Football Focus. But, as Brighton have proven over the years, if you put money on the table, then they are happy to sell and that’s where Tottenham come into the picture.
After selling Harry Kane, Spurs want to replace their club-record goalscorer and Evan Ferguson, who has 11 goals in 31 Brighton games, is a transfer target for the London club, with suggestions that Ange Postecoglou is a big fan.
Of course, if Spurs want to sign the player, then they will have to pay probably £100 million+, because Moises Caicedo’s transfer has probably set the bar for that and he is a defensive midfielder.
Nonetheless, Keown was full of praise for Ferguson and the quality he has in his locker
“He is comfortable, but he knows that there is still a long way to go in what he needs to achieve,” said Keown.
“I think Danny Welbeck is a very good role model for him, in terms of hanging on and keeping that position, so the environment is perfect for him.
“He needs to keep improving. But the ability is definitely there. He is an outstanding talent. Ten goals already. He can score any type of goal. In front of the goal, he is very calm. “I think, behind Haaland, and massive praise for him, but he really has got everything in his game.”

Yes, Ferguson has seen his teammates leave for bigger and better things – or so they think – but the young Irishman has years and years left in his locker.
He is still a teenager, playing for a team that can be trusted to develop him and for an attack-minded manager, so no need for that big-money move yet.
