Tottenham Hotspur will only sign a new striker if a good opportunity presents itself.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on The Here We Go Podcast. Tottenham could do with a new centre-forward after selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich, but the Italian journalist says the north London club will not buy one just for the sake of it.
Talking on his podcast, he said: “Speaking to my sources, they will only go for a new striker if they find a good opportunity. They don’t want to overpay. They don’t want to sign a striker just because they have to find a striker.”
Tottenham are not feeling the impact of Kane’s departure just yet, recently beating Manchester United 2-0.

Following that win against United and the draw at Brentford, things are going quite well for Ange Postecoglou.
Nevertheless, it would be a bit naive not to add another centre-forward to the squad after Kane’s exit. While things are working out now, it seems too much of a risk to pin everything on Richarlison.
The Brazilian, of course, really struggled for goals last season after making his big money move from Everton. In total, he scored just once in 27 Premier League outings.
When you consider that, Tottenham would probably be wise to go out and sign a new No.9.
In terms of who they could bring to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, one name that has been linked with a move to north London is Romelu Lukaku.
According to Calciomercato, Spurs have already made some contact about a transfer, though it has not really led to anything yet.
The Belgian has an exceptional goalscoring record, so he is definitely a name worth considering for any top team looking for a centre-forward ahead of September’s deadline.
