Everton midfielder Dele Alli was back in north London as Spurs showed they were more than just a Harry Kane team.
Former Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli was back in north London to witness the club’s first win under new manager Ange Postecoglou.
Pape Matar Sarr and Ben Davies got the goals but Daniel Levy would be the happiest man as the game started with a demonstration against the Spurs chairman, but it ended with an incredible atmosphere that will live long in the minds of fans and everyone associated with the club.
Dele Alli who enjoyed his best career moments here at Tottenham was a guest of Eric Dier and he was seen sitting in the Players Family Box throughout the game, he even stayed behind to enjoy the moment with fans before heading for the exit.
Alli has always shown his soft side to Spurs and in the summer revealed he had a lot of support from former Tottenham manager Pochettino as he fought through depression during his time at the club.
He told Gary Neville in an interview: “Mauricio Pochettino was the best manager and I couldn’t have asked for a better manager at the time.
“It wasn’t like a footballer and a manager relationship. It was deeper than that, I felt.
“He was just so understanding of the decisions I was making, and he was guiding – like, he cared about me as a person before the football, which is what I needed at that time. And I think that’s important for young players.”
The England international scored 67 in 269 games for Tottenham and for almost three years, he was one of the world’s best players in his age group. Now back at Everton following a loan spell in Turkey, Alli will hope that he gets his career back on track after recent setbacks.
