Chelsea transfer failure hands Daniel Levy green light to complete dream Tottenham deal. Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has been monitored by Spurs this summer and Ange Postecoglou could make his move before the window closes
Tottenham Hotspur may have been handed the perfect opportunity to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze after an astonishing transfer twist.
Earlier this month, football.london reported that Spurs were monitoring the exciting attacker as part of Ange Postecoglou’s overhaul in north London. Over £150million has been spent on eight new signings this summer, but Tottenham are expected to continue their spending following Harry Kane’s mega-money move to Bayern Munich.
A striker is expected to be at the top of Daniel Levy’s shortlist, with Gift Orban, Jonathan David and Folarin Balogun all names linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since Kane’s departure last weekend.
Eze, whose deal at Selhurst Park expires in 2025, emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting players in the last 18 months. However, following Wilfried Zaha’s exit to Galatasaray this summer, Roy Hogdson’s side are expected to rely heavily on Eze and Michael Olise this season.
It had seemed that the latter would secure a dream transfer to Chelsea this summer. Reports on Wednesday had suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s side were close to agreeing personal terms with the 21-year-old, with a £45million deal close to being agreed between the two clubs.
However, on Thursday, Palace chairman Steve Parish confirmed that Olise had signed a new contract at Selhurst Park to end Chelsea’s pursuit of the France Under-21 international.
