Tottenham star who is considering a “attractive project” is set to make a “surprise move” to Real Madrid.

Tottenham star who is considering a “attractive project” is set to make a “surprise move” to Real Madrid. Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is reportedly attracting interest from Real Madrid as they look to cope with the absence of Thibaut Courtois.

The France legend, who didn’t have the best season for Tottenham last term, is set to drop down the pecking order at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou after the club signed Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli this summer.

Lloris has one year left on his contract at Tottenham after making 447 appearances for the north London club over his 11 seasons in the Premier League.

The 36-year-old moved to Spurs from French side Lyon in 2012 but could now look for a new challenge as his game time could be limited this season.

And L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) claim that Lloris could make a ‘surprise move’ to Real Madrid this summer as the La Liga side look to provide cover for injured goalkeeper Courtois. The Belgium international is believed to have suffered the anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee in training and will undergo surgery in the coming days.

A statement on Real’s official club website read: “Following tests carried out on Thibaut Courtois, the player has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days.”

L’Equipe add that it is Lloris’ ‘wish to live a new adventure’ as soon as possible and is ‘on the lookout for an attractive project’ this summer.

And interest from Real Madrid could allow him to end ‘his career in style’ and he could answer the call from Los Blancos as they are in ‘urgent need’ of new goalkeeper.

Lloris hinted in June that he might be considering a move away from Tottenham this summer with the goalkeeper talking about “the end of an era”.

The Frenchman said: “We are coming to an important moment, whether for the club or for me. It’s the end of an era. I have desires for other things, I will ask myself quietly to study what will be possible.

“But I don’t forget that I still have a year of contract with Tottenham and that in football it is always difficult to predict what will happen.

“What is essential at the moment is to recover well from my injury. I’m on vacation but I continue to talk and do my training. My goal is to be on top in July, then we’ll see what the future holds for me.”
