Tottenham tonight conclude their pre-season with a friendly against Barcelona in the annual Joan Gamper Trophy match, but Harry Kane will be absent. 

It is the fourth match of Spurs’ off-season, which started with a defeat to West Ham in Singapore and most recently saw Shakhtar Donetsk beaten 5-1 in north London as Kane scored four goals.

Kane’s future has been the subject of intense speculation all summer, with Bayern Munich failing with three bids for the striker – the most recent of which totalled £86million.

Standard Sport understands Kane is now planning for life at Tottenham for the upcoming season, having set him and the transfer a deadline to complete before Sunday’s Premier League opener against Brentford.

But Kane will not be featuring tonight at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium as Ange Postecoglou casts an eye over his players for the final time before their trip to west London.

With Kane playing 80 minutes against Shakhtar on Sunday, the quick turnaround means the captain has been allowed to stay at Hotspur Way and give others the opportunity to impress and work on their fitness. The likes of James Maddison was also not pictured with the travelling squad, though Heung-min Son was.

New signing Micky van de Ven will also sit out the friendly, along with incoming addition Alejo Veliz, as they await work permits.

Tottenham have ‘made it known’ defender can leave on loan with buying option

Following the arrival of Micky van de Ven at Tottenham, a centre-back is going to have to leave the club, and that man could be Japhet Tanganga.

Already used very sporadically last season, the 24-year-old needs to play more, and a move away, even if temporary, could do him the world of good.

The Tottenham player has a number of teams interested in his services, among which are Inter Milan, as reported by Sky Italia on Tuesday, relayed by FC Inter News.

They state that Tanganga’s name is ‘back in fashion’ over at San Siro, as the Serie A side have ‘expressed an interest’ in the defender, whom they describe as an old target.

That being said, they have yet to ‘open negotiations’ with Tottenham, who have ‘made it known’ to the Italians that they would be ‘willing to loan him out with the right of redemption’.

It’s worth pointing out that the 24-year-old has only ever played for Spurs in his career, having joined them at the age of 10, so moving away from the Premier League side would be a huge step and change for him.
