Harry Kane has fuelled speculation that he will leave Tottenham to join Bayern Munich this summer. The 30-year-old striker faces an increasingly uncertain future in north London with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.
After scoring four goals against Shakhtar Donetsk in what could be his final game for the Lilywhites, Kane was replaced by Dane Scarlett with ten minutes to spare. As the fourth official put the LED substitution board, the England international applauded all four stands of the Spurs Stadium before strolling off the pitch.
Then, after the full-time whistle, Kane returned to the field to lap of the ground – again, applauding the Tottenham fans. The Englishman has been heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga champions for a while now and, as Daniel Levy approaches crunch talks, he may have unofficially bid farewell to his boyhood club.
Prior to the departure of Fabio Paratici in April, football.london understood that Tottenham had been in contact with Kane’s team to discuss a new deal. But, the Englishman is said to be in no rush to sign an extension during the transfer window while he assesses his options.
Despite significant interest from Bayern, Daniel Levy seems determined to hold onto Kane, who will not force an exit. While it remains to be seen whether the Bundesliga champions will break the bank for the Spurs talisman, the Lilywhites have reportedly prepared for his potential departure.
Despite the speculation over Kane’s future, James Maddison insisted the players aren’t distracted and they’d love him to stay. Earlier this week, the attacking midfielder said: “I would love Harry Kane to stay, he’s the best No9 in the world in my opinion. “But what will be will be and Harry is super professional. It hasn’t been a distraction, Harry is super professional. I won’t go into details because I don’t know anything and let’s be respectful about Harry’s situation.
“Everyone knows what Harry Kane is like, he’s a super professional guy and whatever club he is at, whenever he goes into training he gives 100 per cent and it’s the same as all the lads so not at all really.”
