Hammers to make £10m profit from player’s sale – after just one season

Hammers to make £10m profit from player’s sale – after just one season. David Moyes was the king of the loss making coaches when it came to player sales. The staggering list of players on who Moyes lost £10 million or more shows that, however great he was as a coach – and he will be forever in Hammers history after Prague – as a transfer market wheeler and dealer he was down there with Del Boy Trotter.

Nicola Vlasic, Saiid Benrahma, Gianluca Scammaca, Pablo Fornals, Issa Diop, Sebastian Haller and selling (main image) Felipe Anderson for a whopping £40 million loss – just the highlights of Moyes’s catalogue of losses.

So it comes as quite a pleasant surprise to report a likely profit on a West Ham signing – a Lopetgui one at that!

Reportedly according to Rivernoticias Argentine club River Plate are considering offering €15 million euros – about £12 million- to beat clubs in La Liga to the signature of the World Cup winner who West Ham signed on a ‘free’ last season. Even allowing for his signing on fee, that’ll be a very healthy ten million profit for West Ham’s sale of Guido Rodriguez.

Which will be very welcome in these days of Profit and Sustainability Regulations as the Hammers look likely to post a loss for 2024-5 in the region of €98 million.

Making supporters much more willing to forgive Julen Lopetegui for the poor judgement in bringing Rodriguez to the Premier League in the first place.
