Potter says West Ham have an unbelievable talent with enormous potential, and it’s not Scarles

Graham Potter says West Ham have an unbelievable talent with enormous potential. Graham Potter has been absolutely raving about one of his West Ham United players in particular.

West Ham appointed Graham Potter to replace Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium seven weeks ago today. Potter has already proved to be a class above Lopetegui in every single aspect.

Now the 49-year-old just needs to start guiding his side to a consistent run of results, in order to prove there is some real substance behind his footballing philosophy.

The Hammers have definitely improved performance wise over the past seven weeks, and the win against Arsenal on Saturday was the players’ reward for all of their hard work. Now they have to beat Leicester on Thursday night in order to rubber stamp the victory over the Gunners.

West Ham certainly have the players needed to be fighting it out for top eight finish. And Potter has been hugely impressed by one of them in particular.

Graham Potter shares exactly how he feels about Mohammed Kudus. Mohammed Kudus is one of the best and most exciting individual talents we have at West Ham.

He hasn’t been anywhere near his best this season though.

The Ghanaian didn’t see eye-to-eye with Julen Lopetegui, but with Potter now at the helm it seems like he could be close to getting back to his best.

The Hammers head coach is clearly a huge fan of Kudus, and he has just absolutely raved about the former Ajax man. Potter described Kudus as a player with ‘unbelievable talent’, when speaking to TNT Sports:

“His potential is enormous. He’s an unbelievable talent, unbelievable potential. His high-end actions are world-class, there’s no doubt. For me, it’s just to help him understand his role in the team, understand the responsibility he has, how we will attack as a team and how we defend as a team and his role within that, but he does things that normal players can’t do, which is an unbelievable quality to have. Then it’s about fitting that into the team and helping him enjoy his football. I think if he’s enjoying his football, then you just see a player that can take us to another level.“

Potter is spot on in absolutely everything he said there. If Kudus can find the right balance between defence and attack, and improve upon his decision making inside the final third, he will be a world-class player.

Here’s why West Ham have got Mohammed Kudus all wrong

The Hammers fans have often accused Kudus of not being a team player.

He has faced accusations of being greedy and keeping his head down for too long, rather than look for his teammates who might be in better positions than himself.

However, Kudus blew the doors off that notion with his comments earlier this week, after our 1-0 win away at Arsenal.

“The job in defence was really tough. We played a very tough team, and we knew they were going to attack a lot, so we had to make sure the eleven players were focused on the task at hand, and everyone was excellent in doing their own duties.“

That just goes to show that Mohammed Kudus is in fact a team player, but he does need to start showing that more for West Ham. His talent is undeniable. Whether or not he’s the total package remains to be seen though.
