West Ham player ratings vs Arsenal: Unreal team performance as 10/10 Hammer stuns Emirates

West Ham player ratings vs Arsenal – Unreal team performance as 10/10 Hammer stuns Emirates. Hammers News have compiled the West Ham player ratings for the 1-0 win over Arsenal.

Graham Potter would’ve been delighted with his West Ham players after the shift they put in against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday. Potter made some big calls with his starting XI by starting Ollie Scarles and leaving Evan Ferguson on the bench.

However, those decisions paid off. I’m convinced that the future is very bright at the London Stadium.

That performance against Arsenal is one that we can all get behind. As West Ham fans, all we demand from the players is 100% commitment, desire and intensity in their play.

And boy did they deliver that against Arsenal, and more. West Ham player ratings vs Arsenal

Here’s how we rated the players’ performances against the Gunners.

    Alphonse Areola 8

A very solid performance from the Frenchman. He looked shaky when crosses were whipped into our box early on, but he improved as the game went on.

    Aaron Wan-Bissaka 10

Wow, that’s all I can say to that from AWB. What a sensational display that was from the 27-year-old. He was exceptional when defending and a real threat going forward. His brilliant performance was capped off with his superb assist for Jarrod Bowen.

    Jean-Clair Todibo 9

The Frenchman was back to his best today. He gave the Arsenal forwards absolutely nothing all afternoon until he was replaced by Konstantinos Mavropanos. That 60-odd minutes will be crucial for Todibo as he tries to regain full fitness.

    Max Kilman 8

A very solid performance from the centre-back. The 27-year-old has been one of our better players this season, and he looks so much better with two other central defenders either side of him.

    Aaron Cresswell 8

Credit where credit’s due, Cresswell was immense today. The 35-year-old has been poor on the most part for us over the past 12 months, but he rolled back the years at The Emirates.

    Ollie Scarles 9

What a talent we have on our hands here. Scarles looked every bit the Premier League player against Arsenal and there is no doubt in my mind that the 19-year-old will go on to become a star for us.

    Edson Alvarez 8

That was much better from the Mexican. He didn’t give the Arsenal midfielders any time at all to dwell on the ball and he pressed from the front with real aggression and efficiency.

    Tomas Soucek 7

A solid display from Soucek. He won numerous aerial duels (five in total), and chalked up three clearances and two blocks. A very impressive defensive performance from the Czech Republic international.

    James Ward-Prowse 7

The 30-year-old put in a solid, if not spectacular performance against the Gunners. The fact that he was outpaced by David Raya in the dying minutes was worrying though.

    Mohammed Kudus 9

Is Kudus back? It certainly seems like it after that performance against Arsenal today. He was so strong in the duels against the Gunners and on another day he would have scored a goal to go along with his brilliant display.

    Jarrod Bowen 9

Worked tirelessly up front all game, and scored the match-winner. I expect to see him go from strength to strength between now and the end of the season.

    Subs:

    Konstantinos Mavropanos 7

    A much-improved performance from the Greek centre-back.

    Evan Ferguson 6

He didn’t really get much chance to impress after he came on with only 10 minutes remaining.

    Carlos Soler N/A

Graham Potter’s ‘new West Ham’ on full display

If that is what Potter will bring to West Ham, then I’m all for it.

Sure, I would like us to have more possession (just 32% against Arsenal), but most teams that go to The Emirates give up the ball for the majority of the time.

As time goes on, I expect to see better patterns of play, as the players’ muscle memory begins to kick in. Graham Potter certainly has his team playing with more intensity, and the way that they defended as a team against the Gunners was really encouraging to see.

The 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 system definitely seems to suit us better.

And if we beat Leicester on Thursday night then who knows? Perhaps a late run for the top eight will not be out of the question. The West Ham player ratings for our win aainst Arsenal was reflective of an exceptional all-round team performance.
