West Ham exits: Two more players depart London Stadium. West Ham have confirmed the departures of academy duo Favour Fawunmi and Sean Tarima.

The Hammers revealed via their official website on 6 February that the pair are leaving Rush Green despite the latter only completing his scholarship in the summer. After this, the 18-year-old signed a short-term contract in East London which came to an end on 31 January.

His 20-year-old teammate, Tarima will also be departing the Irons after reaching a mutual agreement to depart despite making 18 appearances for the development squad this season.

West Ham confirm Favour Fawunmi and Sean Tarima exits

It is an exciting time at the London Stadium for academy players after Graham Potter came in as head coach in January. The Englishman has previous for handing out opportunities to youth players in the first-team while working to get the best out of them.

Oliver Scarles and Lewis Orford have already benefitted from this in the short time that the 49-year-old has been in charge of the Hammers.

With that being said, youngsters at Rush Green will be hoping to impress the manager with a view to earning a chance in the senior set-up.

That won’t be the case for Fawunmi or Tarima after completing their exits which does come at a surprising time given the transfer window has now closed.

It will now be interesting to see where this academy duo end up and whether they will go in search of regular minutes in the lower leagues or join another academy.

In other West Ham news, an offer to re-sign a striker that was sold for £22.4m was made during the winter.
