Tottenham announce another signing after transfer window closes

Tottenham have strengthened their academy setup with the signing of promising defender Luca Furnell-Gill from Liverpool, announced earlier today on the club’s official website.

The 18-year-old centre-back has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. He joins the academy ranks as part of Spurs’ ongoing commitment to developing young talent and building a strong foundation for the future.

Furnell-Gill’s journey from Liverpool to Tottenham

Furnell-Gill began his football career at Preston North End before making the switch to Liverpool at the Under-15 level. His development at Anfield was rapid, as he made his Under-18 debut as a schoolboy and later featured for Liverpool’s Under-21 side this season.

Interestingly, the Steeton-born defender started his career as a winger before transitioning into a centre-back during his time at Liverpool. This positional change has added versatility and tactical awareness to his game, allowing him to be comfortable in possession and effective at building play from the back.

Furnell-Gill has made six appearances in the U18 Premier League and EFL Trophy this season, even managing to get on the scoresheet. His performances have demonstrated composure under pressure, solid defensive instincts, and strong decision-making on the pitch.

Spurs continue to invest in young emerging talents

Tottenham’s recruitment of young prospects has been a key focus in recent years, with the club aiming to develop players into first-team regulars. Furnell-Gill’s arrival follows Spurs’ proactive academy approach, which has seen them sign and nurture talents like Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Antonin Kinsky, Ashley Phillips, Luka Vušković and Alfie Dorrington.

While his immediate role will be within the academy setup, Spurs view him as a long-term defensive asset. Fans will be eager to track his progress, with hopes that he will eventually break into the first team and become a key figure for the club.
