‘I don’t know’: £17m player admits he’s not sure if he’ll be at West Ham next season

£17m player admits he’s not sure if he’ll be at West Ham next season. West Ham United have certainly been busy trying to strengthen the options available to Graham Potter for the rest of the season.

James Ward-Prowse has already returned to West Ham on deadline day, the kind of player that Potter should be well positioned to get the best from. Of course, Evan Ferguson has also arrived in east London from Brighton & Hove Albion, a striker who could benefit from a fresh start with a familiar face.

Ferguson burst onto the scene under Potter at Brighton, but the 20-year-old has made slow progress of late – he’s no longer being touted around for figures like £100m.

Speaking of players who should thrive under Potter, Paris Saint-Germain loanee Carlos Soler appears to be enjoying life since West Ham appointed their new boss.

Carlos Soler not sure if West Ham will buy him permanently from Paris Saint-Germain

Soler has now made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers so far this season, most recently starting just behind Lucas Paqueta against Aston Villa.

However, when speaking in an interview with The Sun, Soler has admitted that he doesn’t know if he’ll still be wearing claret and blue next season. Soler’s loan includes an option to buy for Potter’s side, but it’s currently unclear if West Ham will choose to do so.

Speaking in the interview, Soler seemed to express his willingness to say, a decision that might ultimately be out of his hands, though.

Asked about his future, Soler said: “I don’t know about that because I’m just on loan here. I don’t know.

“If I tell you one thing, maybe in two months it’s going to be different. I like London. I like playing for West Ham.”

West Ham can secure Carlos Soler for a reasonable price

Back when Soler initially signed on loan from PSG, it was reported that a permanent deal would cost the Hammers around £17m.

⚒️🇪🇸 Buy option clause into Carlos Soler loan deal will be around €20m, as West Ham and PSG have agreed.

And at 28-years-old, that price tag would appear to represent good value for a Spain international who should continue to improve once he becomes even better adapted to the Premier League.

Soler joined the club during a rocky time under Julen Lopetegui, who was seemingly under pressure right from the off.

And it would seem sensible for West Ham to bide their time over any decision of whether to sign Soler, even if signs arepositive with the midfielder.
