West Ham ready to pay £20m for Yuri Alberto transfer. West Ham are considering a transfer for Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto, according to Tim Vickery.
The Irons are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements as Graham Potter seeks to salvage their season after the disastrous reign of Julen Lopetegui. They saw a bid of £57million rejected for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran [David Ornstein] so the money is there if the right target can be identified.
The South American football expert told Sky Sports that the Hammers are considering a move for the 24-year-old who has one-cap for Brazil, saying: “Sources in Brazil are saying that West Ham are prepared to offer £20 million for him.
Corinthians don’t want to sell but their valuation of the player was little more than half of that, so if there really is £20m on the table for Yuri Alberto then they could be making an offer that Corinthians can’t refuse.” West Ham need a striker this month. The East London club need to sign a striker in the winter transfer window to allow their new manager to turn their season around.
Injuries to Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug and Jarrod Bowen have exacerbated the situation but the Hammers are yet to act.
While they did have an offer for Duran rejected, that bid was ridiculous, they were never going to get him given the fact that he has just signed a new contract and has bigger clubs interested in his services.
West Ham have been linked to a move for Yuri Alberto. The Brazilian striker would be a gamble but in the current market, a fee of £20m is not a heavy amount for a striker who scored 15 goals in 29 league matches last season.
In his last stint in European football, he scored four goals in 11 league appearances for Russian club Zenit, so he is not uncomfortable leaving Brazil.
The one-cap international could prove to be a bargain and if he does not perform then the Hammers could probably sell him for a profit given his age.
