First January window transfer business officially confirmed by West Ham

First January window transfer business officially confirmed by West Ham. There is so much work to be done at West Ham United in the January transfer window. And that involves moving on players, as well as bringing them in to the London Stadium. The 7 WORST Football Club Rebrands

Graham Potter was named as the new West Ham head coach 12 days ago, and he will be under no illusions as to the size of the task that awaits him. With the January transfer window currently open and in full swing, Potter will be fully aware of the fact that he needs to strengthen his ranks.

He discussed the urgent need for new additions after his first game in charge of the club away at Aston Villa. Our squad is a very balanced one right now, with a real injection of youth and blistering pace desperately required.

Graham Potter, Head Coach of West Ham United, looks on prior to the Premier League match between West Ham United FC and Crystal Palace FC at London…

However, in order for Potter to make a couple of top-class additions, moving on some of the deadwood will be key. And one player has officially left us already on loan.

First January window transfer business confirmed by West Ham

This month will be an incredibly busy one for the Hammers, there’s no doubt about that. Poor squad building over the past three years has led us to this point whereby we require yet another huge rebuild.

And one man in particular epitomises the poor transfer strategy that has caused us so many problems recently.

However, he has now officially left us until the end of the season. The club’s official website has confirmed that Maxwel Cornet has left the London Stadium to join Genoa on loan up until the end of the season. The 28-year-old had previously been on loan with Southampton but returned to the Hammers after his horror spell at St Mary’s.

Cornet was desperately pushing to leave West Ham after he returned to the club, in order to obtain regular first-team football. And now he’s got his wish. It will be interesting to see how he gets on in Serie A under the tutelage of Patrick Vieira.

Maxwel Cornet a disaster for West Ham from start to finish. When the 28-year-old winger arrived at the London Stadium from Burnley in the summer of 2022, many of us were hugely excited.

Cornet has been excellent for Burnley, and his form for Lyon before that was hugely impressive. He gave Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side all sorts of problems in the Champions League don’t forget.

However, he suffered a serious injury just two months into his Hammers career – one that kept him out for nearly half a year.

And Cornet simply didn’t recover from that injury. The Ivorian has played just 961 minutes of action for West Ham, with only one goal to his name (Transfermarkt).

Hopefully he’ll do well on loan with Genoa, so that we can sell him for a decent fee in the summer.

West Ham’s first January window transfer business ideally would have been a new signing.

However, Cornet leaving on loan is smart work from the Hammers. Let’s hope it’s a deal that ends upreaping huge dividends for West Ham.
