View: Potter to recall forward as change expected – West Ham predicted XI v Fulham

Ings recalled as Mavropanos decision made – West Ham predicted XI v Fulham. Danny Ings could be recalled to the West Ham United starting 11 against Fulham, with a decision to be made on the inclusion of Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Graham Potter will take charge of his first league game as West Ham boss following their FA Cup exit to Aston Villa on Friday (10 January).

However, he will have to do so without the recently injured Niclas Fullkrug, which is likely to open the door for Ings to return to starting lineup. The German could be out for up to three months [Jack Rosser], with the hunt for a new frontman underway at the London Stadium.

Potter to make Mavropanos decision ahead of West Ham v Fulham

Mavropanos has been somewhat of a pantomime villain in recent weeks at West Ham with a number of poor performances, but given Potter’s recent appointment, he may be afforded another opportunity to prove his worth in what could be an unchanged defence for the Irons.

Lukasz Fabianski could do little with the goals conceded to Villa and will almost certainly keep his place between the sticks.

In terms of the backline, it’s hard to envisage any changes with Max Kilman expected to start alongside Mavropanos, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Oliver Scarles on either side of him.

Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez could retain their places in midfield, while Lucas Paqueta should start in the 10 role despite the controversy that ensued against the Villans.

The Brazilian was the standout performer at Villa Park, having made the most tackles and won the most duels in the game, as well as scoring the Irons’ only goal of the tie [FotMob].

Mohamed Kudus cut a frustrating figure once again on Friday but Potter will be aware of the ability he possesses, and it would be a huge surprise to see him left out of the starting 11.

On the opposite flank, Crysencio Summerville could retain his place despite injury concerns that emerged after the latest game. The Dutchman was taken off after 45 minutes but the extent of his injury is yet to be revealed.

In the case of his potential absence, Luis Guilherme could start.

Ings will almost certainly be recalled into the starting 11 given he is the only fit striker at the club, despite his poor showing against Villa.

His performance will need to be much improved if he is to have any telling impact against Fulham.

In other West Ham news, the Irons could make a move to sign this international forward who has fallen out of favour at his club.
