New Graham Potter compensation claim could lead to big Tim Steidten twist at West Ham. West Ham United are said to be eyeing Graham Potter as the preferred replacement for Julen Lopetegui, and that could have a serious knock-on effect for Tim Steidten.
Graham Potter has been linked with the West Ham hot-seat for quite some time now, with recent claims suggesting that a heavy defeat to Manchester City could see the 49-year-old replace Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium.

However, he’s not the only one who has failed. Tim Steidten simply hasn’t done the business in my eyes, and the German’s job is said to be far from safe.
The so-called ‘pearl diver’ has failed to discover any unpolished gems for the Hammers so far.
Meanwhile, some of his big-name signings like Niclas Fullkrug have failed to live up to expectations at West Ham.
So what could the future hold for Steidten, if the Hammers decide to part ways with Lopetegui?

Everything is up in the air at the London Stadium right now. The West Ham owners are clearly going from game to game when it comes to deciding Lopetegui’s future.
And that’s no way to run a football club in my opinion – it just reeks of a lack of a long-term vision.
Potter is clearly the man who the Hammers have on standby, but a new claim really has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons.
According to Hammers fan-site KUMB, Graham Potter wants to bring one of his former scouting chiefs who is still currently at Chelsea.
This would require West Ham to pay compensation to Chelsea and what’s more, Steidten would then either have to agree to work alongside the new man, or be moved on from his role at the club.
If West Ham give in to Graham Potter’s demands, and bring in his former top scout from Chelsea, Tim Steidten’s job will quite obviously be undermined.
I wouldn’t blame the 45-year-old for leaving the London Stadium one little bit.
At the same time though, I would also back the board’s decision to give the power to Potter and his trusted chief scout.
Something has to change at West Ham right now – whatever we are doing is quite clearly not working is it.
And if that means a change behind the scenes in our recruitment setup, as well as a new manager coming in, then so be it.
