Tomas Soucek apologises ahead of West Ham United v Nottingham Forest clash. West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek has apologised for not being available for the Nottingham Forest clash on 2 November.

The Czech Republic international was not included in the matchday squad by Julen Lopetegui due to a virus. However, he sent a message on X a minute after the lineup was announced and said he would try to be back next week.

He wrote: “I’m sorry I can’t help the team today. I got a virus and I’m sick. I will support the team as much as possible at home in front of the TV. Let’s go Hammers! I do my best to be ready for next week.”

Tomas Soucek shows just how much West Ham means to him

Soucek’s immediate apology to the fans after being omitted from the squad due to illness exemplifies why he is so admired at the club.

By taking to X just a minute after the lineup announcement, the midfielder demonstrated a level of care and connectivity with the fans that is rare. This act not only shows his professionalism but also his deep emotional investment in the team’s success, choosing to communicate personally even when sidelined.

Unlike many players who might remain silent in such circumstances, the 29-year-old’s proactive message reflects his commitment and love for the club, fostering a stronger bond with the supporters who appreciate such genuine interactions. This gesture reassures supporters of his dedication, enhancing his reputation as not just a player, but a true fan of the club himself.

I’m sorry I can’t help the team today. I got a virus and I’m sick.. I will support the team as much as possible at home in front of the TV. Let’s go hammers! ⚒️

I do my best to be ready for next week 💪🏽

Hopefully, he’ll be fit in no time and be ready for selection for the Everton clash on 9 November.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to sell an international player in January and have already identified a replacement for him.
