West Ham has taken extraordinary action with Michail Antonio. West Ham United have proved to be extremely accommodating with Michail Antonio.
Michail Antonio has led the line for West Ham once again this season, with summer signing Niclas Fullkrug currently on the sidelines with a calf injury. The Jamaica international is our highest ever Premier League goalscorer, and has set himself an ambitious target of 100 Premier League goals.
Despite criticism from some fans over the past year or two, Antonio has been a fantastic servant for the Hammers.
And it’s no coincidence that we haven’t been able to replace him at the London Stadium – his qualities are so unique. His raw power and unpredictability have caused many Premier League defenders problems throughout the years.
However, his physique has caused him some issues too this season it seems…
West Ham takes extraordinary action with Michail Antonio. The Hammers froward has endured a tough start to the 2024/25 campaign with the Hammers, with just one goal and one assist to his name in nine games so far.
However, he has experienced difficulty with something else as well.
At the start of the season, Antonio cut the collars on his shirts because they were too tight around his neck. Julian Dicks did the same when playing for the Hammers back in the 90’s.
However, now West Ham have taken action concerning Antonio’s problem. According to a report from ESPN, ‘West Ham have made the 34-year-old striker a custom shirt with a pre-made slit for him to wear during games’:

The need for West Ham to make custom made shirts for Antonio proves what a poor design the shirt was from Umbro.
Their kit designs for the Hammers have been incredibly bland on the most part, but now their latest offering isn’t practical either.
Umbro have been our sponsor since 2015, and they recently agreed a deal to extend their partnership with the club into next season.
Hopefully the situation with West Ham forward Michail Antonio has served as a lesson to them regarding collared neck shirt designs.
