With the upcoming game on Sunday 21 September the latest iteration of their battle, it is worth considering that much of Arsenal’s squad has played for City previously as reported by Goonersnews.com.
Raheem Sterling
The most recent addition is Raheem Sterling who joined on loan from Chelsea having previously spent seven years at Manchester City where he made over 220 appearances.
However, the list of players to cross the rivalry is endless with some, up there with the best Premier League players we have ever seen.
Striker Adebayor was the ultimate fan-taunter as he has played for Arsenal and Spurs, but also celebrated in front of his old fans whilst at Manchester City.
He joined the Gunners in 2005 and spent three years there making 125 appearances. Adebayor then moved to Cty in 2009 where he spent just one season, scoring 19 goals.
He is now retired after finishing his playing career last year.
Nicolas Anelka
Anelka also featured on our list of players to play for both Arsenal and Chelsea, but the Frenchman also had a spell with City.
The striker joined City in 2002, four years after leaving Arsenal where he made 72 appearances. Anelka only stayed in Manchester until 2005 when he moved to the Turkish side Fenerbahce.
He retired in 2015 at Mumbai City.
