According to Claret and Hugh, the club also has the chance to bring in Viktor Gyokeres for just £17 million, but their indecisiveness allowed Sporting Lisbon to secure his signature instead.
The Swedish international would go on to be involved in an absolutely ludicrous 39 goals in 33 Liga Portugal games last season, with him already scoring 7 and assisting 1 in the first 4 league games of this campaign.
With the recent news that Niclas Fullkrug is injured, West Ham will be kicking themselves that they didn’t sign Gyokeres a year ago. Despite playing in Portugal, he’s undoubtedly one of the best forwards in the world at the moment and he could have been the final piece to the puzzle at the London Stadium.
