West Ham have reportedly offered a two-year deal to a Premier League winning defender. Despite coming off the back of the most successful period the club have had in the Premier League era. It was clear that West Ham needed a massive rebuild this Summer. Fortunately, the recruitment team delivered just that.
The deadline day addition of Carlos Soler meant the Hammers made 9 additions in the one window, building upon the solid foundations that were already there.
However, it doesn’t seem like their business is fully done yet despite the window being closed. The club are said to be looking at a number of potential free agents, particularly a fourth-choice central defender.
Although former Sheffield United defender Egan played in a behind closed doors friendly for the Irons, he’s far from guaranteed to be joining and, according to Caught Offside, it actually seemed like they’ve gone with an alternative option instead.
The report claims that West Ham have offered former Liverpool defender Joel Matip a two-year contract, although he is hesitant to accept it.
Bournemouth, Fulham, and Leicester have all shown keen interest in securing his signature and he is said to be in no rush to make his decision. At those clubs he could be a more important player than he would be to the Irons which could massively affect his decision.
