“We’re Not Ruling it Out” | Top Source Makes Free Transfer Claim
Al top West Ham source has confirmed what Julen Lopetegui said in his latest press conference: the club could still bring in a free transfer to boost squad numbers.
C&H approached the senior club insider to ask whether the rumours were true and we were told, “We’re not ruling anything out.”
When pressed further to ask if there were specific targets, we were met with the usual response of not discussing individual targets. However, it’s fair to say that the Hammers’ recruitment team is well aware of the players available on a ‘Bosman.’

Under the current rules, any players not registered to a football club are able to move outside of the transfer window, meaning the likes of Joel Matip or Mats Hummels could be signed irrespective of deadline day passing.
Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui said, “The window is closed and you can now only sign free players right now, and OK, we have to focus on the players who we have in tthe squad.”

The 28-year-old defender hasn’t been involved for the Hammers at all during competitive games since Lopetegui took over from David Moyes.
So it was no surprise at all when he left the London Stadium to link up with Real Sociedad on transfer deadline day. The only strange thing about it all was that Lopetegui didn’t bring in another central defender to replace the former Rennes man.

That said, I’d prefer us to promote a youth player like Kaelan Casey, rather than waste money on an ageing stop-gap signing.
I actually think that the 19-year-old Hammers academy product is better than the Morocco international anyway! So we won’t be able to call upon Aguerd this season, and it seems like we won’t be able to ever again, judging by his latest message:

That’s just an utterly bizarre message for a player who has left the club on a straight loan to send to the fans.
