Swap Deal with Juventus Looks Like Bad Move

Swap Deal with Juventus Looks Like Bad Move

West Ham United are reportedly considering a swap deal with Juventus to acquire Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli according to Tutto Juve. The Hammers are keen to strengthen their midfield and believe Locatelli would be a valuable addition. Juventus, in need of a left-back, could be interested in Emerson Palmieri.

Juventus have been in need of a left-back ever since Alex Sandro lost his form two seasons ago. Emerson could be a good short-term solution while they look to balance their books and pursue a younger quality left-back in the future.

A swap deal involving Locatelli and Emerson would be a bad move in my opinion, with only days remaining in the transfer window, the Hammers would be left with only Aaron Cresswell as left back .

This is a swap deal which would clearly benefit just one club and it certainly wouldn’t be West Ham. Head coach Julen Lopetegui is on the lookout for midfield reinforcements but the club are well stocked in that area.

Therefore the proposition of having six midfielders and one left back probably renders this rumour as highly unlikely.

West Ham have impressed fans – not just of their own club either – pundits and journalists with their summer transfer business.

Eight new signings have arrived at West Ham, many of them eye-catching. And more could yet follow before the window closes next week according to new head coach Julen Lopetegui himself.

The Spaniard is under pressure to succeed where his predecessor David Moyes failed – by combining style with substance. Further pressure has been heaped on the shoulders of the 57-year-old by West Ham’s flurry of transfer activity.

Things have got off to an inauspicious start with the 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa.

But there were glimpses of progress in West Ham’s superior possession and passing stats. Virtually unheard of against teams outside the relegation spots under Moyes let alone against a Champions League outfit. West Ham’s squad has been overhauled thanks to the work of the technical director Tim Steidten.
