Could the impossible become reality as Sullivan confidant makes fresh £325k-a-wk attacker claim?

West Ham United have been heavily linked with a surprise move to sign Raheem Sterling from Chelsea recently.

Chelsea callously dropped Raheem Sterling from their squad ahead of their clash with Manchester City last weekend, and he’s been on the look-out for a new club ever since then.

Raheem Sterling has since been offered to West Ham, as well as numerous other top clubs both in England and abroad.

West Ham chief Julen Lopetegui is already fairly well stacked in attack, but it could be argued that he needs more competition and cover for Crysencio Summerville in the left wing department.

Unless the Hammers head coach plans on playing Mohammed Kudus out there for the rest of the season, of course, rather than bringing him into the number 10 position.

If Sterling was a genuine option for West Ham, and money was no object, surely signing him would be a no-brainer.

So what’s the current state of affairs? Is there any substance to the rumours linking Raheem with a move to the London Stadium?

Raheem Sterling claim could play right into West Ham’s hands

The former QPR academy graduate is one of the most highly decorated English footballers in the game, having won four Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups and an FA Cup during his time in the game.

And at just 29, he still has at least three or four years left playing at his absolute peak level.

The big question regarding Sterling now though is, where will he be playing his football this season?

Could West Ham really be in with a shot of signing the winger?

According to Claret and Hugh, Raheem Sterling has been offered to West Ham, as well as numerous other clubs.

Here’s the kicker though, his preference is said to be to remain in London, if he is indeed forced to leave Stamford Bridge.

That’s obviously big news for the Hammers, so could a move to the London Stadium really be a possibility for the former Liverpool and Manchester City star this summer?

Sterling to West Ham surely a no-go

According to Capology, Sterling currently earns £325k-a-week. So if he were to join the Hammers, he would have to accept a 50% pay-cut at the very least.

The 29-year-old is an elite player who’s produced the goods at the very highest level for a decade now.

He has 82 caps for England to his name and has bagged 20 goals for his country. In 571 appearances for club and country, the fleet-footed winger has racked up a really impressive 181 goals and 113 assists.

The way that Chelsea have treated him is a disgrace really, and it will be very much their loss when they let him go.

Raheem Sterling still has so much to offer in the Premier League, and he would obviously take West Ham to another level with his pace, movement and undeniable all-round quality.

However, due to his wages, I just can’t see this one happening if I’m honest. Despite his preference to remain in London, I think he’ll join a top European club.
