West Ham apparently set to make official £17m bid for proven striker. West Ham United are thought to be eyeing up the signing of one more striker before the summer transfer window slams shut.
The main priority now for Julen Lopetegui will be to ship out some of the deadwood, before the West Ham head coach mounts another assault on the transfer market. West Ham have already made eight brilliant new signings this summer, but more are still needed if we are to challenge on all fronts this season.
Lopetegui has already admitted himself that he wants two high quality players in every single position at the London Stadium. Whether or not the West Ham owners will be prepared to back the Spaniard with further funds this window remains to be seen.
However, David Sullivan an co seem to be on a mission to bring some real success to the Hammers this season and beyond. So it would be no surprise if Lopetegui did dip into the market once again…

Niclas Fullkrug has already moved to the London Stadium this summer, but Lopetegui apparently wants more competition in the centre-forward department.
Italian journalist Simone Valdarchi told MilanNews24 that West Ham are about to make a £17 million bid for Roma striker Tammy Abraham.
That claim is in direct contrast to what Hammers insiders were suggesting yesterday, when it was claimed that reports linking us with a move to sign the former Chelsea striker were utter ‘nonsense’.
So I guess we will have to wait and see about who has the correct information on this one. A recent report claimed that he could be picked up for just £21 million – outstanding value in this day and age.
If we signed him for that kind of money, I’d be more than happy. However, it seems like the Hammers are set to go in with a low-ball bid for Tammy. Who knows? It might get the job done, and if Abraham does join West Ham, we’ll be a real force this season.
Tammy Abraham would be great for us
The 26-year-old would be a major upgrade on Michail Antonio, what with his finishing ability and aerial strength. His record speaks for itself, with 130 goals in in 339 career appearances for club and country to his name.
Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Abraham is an absolute handful in the air, and would undoubtedly be a big problem for opposing Premier League defenders – he proved that during his time with Chelsea.
However, the fact that he has missed 301 days of football since suffering an ACL injury when playing for Roma in 2023 is a big concern.
Tammy Abraham has suffered persistent ankle problems throughout his career as well, so that would obviously be a worry for West Ham if we did sign him this summer. On the whole, I think signing him would be a risk worth taking, especially if we manage to get him for around £17-20 million.
