Exclusive: “Worse Than We Thought” | Edson Alvarez Return Revealed

Exclusive: “Worse Than We Thought” | Edson Alvarez Return Revealed. Claret & Hugh has learned the expected return date for Edson Álvarez this evening following discussions with a top West Ham source.

Whilst the news is far from ideal, the return of the Mexican midfielder is within sight after a hamstring tear that was more severe than initially reported.

Álvarez missed most of the Copa América due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the 30th minute of Mexico’s 1-0 win over Jamaica, and he hasn’t been seen since.

The former Ajax man was sorely missed in the heart of the Irons’ midfield during the season opener against Aston Villa, prompting Sean Whetstone to inquire about his return.

“We think it will be after the international break,” said the Irons source. “The tear turned out to be much worse than we thought.”

Whilst this news has both positive and negative aspects, it suggests that Álvarez could return for the Premier League fixture against Fulham on September 14th. Unfortunately, he will miss the EPL matches against Crystal Palace and Manchester City, as well as the League Cup clash against Bournemouth.

Read also: Duran’s Impact: A Potential Game-Changer for West Ham. Jhon Duran’s impressive cameo against West Ham has undoubtedly heightened interest in the Colombian striker. His pace, directness, and ability to find the net have made him a coveted asset in the transfer market.

While Aston Villa are reluctant to let Duran leave, West Ham’s need for attacking reinforcements is evident. The Hammers’ current options in the striker position lack the same level of pace and directness that Duran possesses.

West Ham are desperately trying to offload two or three players as they seek further additions.

    West Ham’s Opening Day Disappointment

If they are able to do that, then a loan with obligation closer to Villa’s asking price may well be launched for Duran before August 30th.

If West Ham can successfully negotiate a deal with Aston Villa, Duran could become a key player for the club. His ability to stretch defences and create chances would add a new dimension to the team’s attacking play.

However, the Hammers face competition from other clubs, and the high asking price set by Aston Villa may prove to be a stumbling block. Ultimately, the decision to pursue Duran will depend on West Ham’s ability to offload players and generate funds for new signings.
