West Ham are working to finalise several deals at the moment, and it must be really exciting for the fans.
The Hammers have started the month with a bang. They have already secured the signing of Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville, who has joined on a five-year deal with the option of extending for another year.
The Dutch winger will soon be joined by Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug.
The Hammers agreed a deal for the 31-year-old striker worth £27.5 million including add-ons, and he was allowed to undergo his medical.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the German international will sign his contract on Monday (5 August), and then the deal will be made official.
He will sign a three-year deal at the club, and West Ham will have the option to extend it for another year.
Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has shared a fresh update. He wrote on X that Fullkrug has now completed his medical.
Sheth wrote on X: “Fullkrug medical complete.”
Finally West Ham getting new striker
The Hammers have struggled to sign a new striker in the previous transfer windows. They spent big money on Gianluca Scamacca, but he was a major flop, and the club sold him after one season.
Danny Ings has also proved to be a disappointment. Michail Antonio has carried the onerous burden upfront on his own all these years, and Julen Lopetegui was determined to land one.
Make no mistake: Fullkrug is a fantastic goalscorer. Last season, he joined Dortmund and scored 15 goals in his debut campaign.
He is a regular member of the German national team as well. However, West Ham are paying an insane transfer fee for someone who will soon approach the fag end of his career.
Initially, they were reluctant to pay over the odds, but that has not been the case.
The money could have been better spent on a young player like Jhon Duran. Fullkrug will have no resale value, which means West Ham has taken a massive financial gamble here.
