West Ham winger target’s departure is “inevitable”, according to reports. Despite Tim Steidten being in control of transfers, it seems like many of the recruitment tactics have stayed the same at West Ham. They still look to prioritise the best value for money rather than the best overall player and they are also still willing to play the long game if it causes them to get a better deal.
While there are downsides to this approach, it has saved them a lot of money over the years and it could do just that this Summer, a window where money needs to be spent very wisely.
Among a whole host of other positions, the Hammers are keen to add another winger to their ranks, with Portuguese attacker Jota Silva being one target.
Although the recruitment team are said to be massive fans of his, it’s believed that they’re not willing to match the €17 million release clause in his contract. However, according to Record Portugal, his departure from Vitoria Guimaraes this Summer is “inevitable” and the East London side remain keenly interested.
If they are able to get him for a bit less than his release clause, then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them finally sign him. His impressive 16 goal involvements in the league last season speak volumes about how brilliant he can be at not only scoring but assisting too and this could make him a bargain buy for any club willing to take the risk.
